The movie is like a milk shake so sweet that you want to keep drinking, even as you begin to gag.. Inconsistent in a way contemporary productions rarely are, its shortcomings the result of an excess of creative energy, rather than a lack thereof.. Sapphires is hardly a cinematic diamond mine. But this Commitments-style mashup of music and melodrama manages to entertain without demanding too much of its audience.. For the most part Aussie director Wayne Blair's feature debut is snappy and fresh.....
